Sustainable Agriculture Course
The Sustainable Agriculture training course is a four-week program that will provide participants with the ability to build and work in greenhouses, indoor vertical gardens, and outdoor gardens. Training will include growing food, creating a food security project and learning how to farm. Participants will gain knowledge needed to grow food sustainably in northern climates.

Courses to learn how to grow food sustainably in greenhouses
Who the Course is for
The Sustainable Agriculture course is being delivered in specific northern Indigenous communities. It is not currently open to the general public.
The Green Skills Academy is committed to providing these courses to underserved and underrepresented communities, specifically Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Newcomers, Women and Gender Diverse. Priority will be given to individuals who are part of these groups.
Participants must be:
- 15 years or older
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have Refugee Status
Course Highlights
Participants will receive 4 weeks of training on how to build and manage sustainable food projects. They will be ready to apply to jobs in sustainable agriculture, farming and food security upon finishing the course.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion in Sustainable Agriculture after finishing all course requirements.
How it works
- This course is free to take part in
- 120 hour course, completed in person and with virtual learning
- Costs will be reimbursed for travel, accommodations and childcare if needed
- The Sustainable Agriculture course is being delivered in specific northern Indigenous communities. It is not currently open to the general public
