Grade 4-6

Concentrate on Conservation

Explore energy conservation, how energy transfers & best practices for conserving energy at home.

Concentrate on Conservation is an interactive, curriculum-linked workshop focused on building the basic understanding of the conservation of energy, renewable energy sources; focusing on both wind and solar PV power. Students will learn about common usages of electricity, over-consumption and its impact on biodiversity as well as how solar panels and wind turbines work.

Using interactive experiments, students will discover how angles can affect the energy output of both solar PV panels and wind turbines. Students are exposed to the scientific method and will make predictions, record data and draw conclusions.

Virtual workshop topic overview:

  1. Energy conservation
  2. Basic understanding of renewable and non- renewable energy
  3. Climate change & global warming – what is it?
  4. Solar PV panels & wind turbines – how they work and transmit energy
  5. Interactive experiments with a model wind turbine and solar panel
  6. Question & answer period

All workshops will be suited to meet the relevant Science and Technology curriculum links for your class.
