Event Details

Relay Education and Ga Gitigemi Gamik are excited to host a two week solar training course.

An in-person solar training course to learn the fundamentals of rooftop solar systems installation.  Training will include electricity and solar energy basics, hands-on experience using demonstration solar equipment, and Ministry of Labour certified Working at Heights training.

Renewable energy is an industry with huge potential in Canada. There is an immediate need among local solar installation companies to hire entry-level Solar Energy Technicians.

  • Week one includes solar energy programming delivered online by Relay Education. In person training of First Aid/CPR and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest. Along with training in Electricity Safety Basics and Safe Ladder Use trainings which will be delivered virtually.
  • In week two, participants will use skills from week one to build and install a 5 kW off-grid solar power system.

Location:

First week will be a mix of virtual and in-person. Location to be confirmed, but likely to be in Kagawong.

Second Week will be held at Ga Gitigemi Gamik, 88 Meadow Lark Lane, Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island.

Dates: July 15-26, 10am-5pm Monday to Friday
