On Saturday, April 27, 2019 over 500 children and adults attended Relay’s Kids’ World of Energy Festival, with Presenting Sponsor, Toronto Hydro.
The first day of the festival welcomed families to the Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. Attendees were able to build wind turbines and solar cars at our Design Challenge stations.
The event also featured an electric vehicle which people explored inside and out, interactive booths with diverse organizations who offered activities on science and technology, ways to practice protecting the environment and on conserving energy.
There was the opportunity to meet exotic animals, enjoy popcorn, live music, face painting and more. There was no shortage of happy faces, despite the cold spring weather.
The festival continues with our school days from April 30 to May 2. Over 1,600 students will attend a full day of hands-on workshops, focused on energy and environment topics.
Each year we invite members of the public to engage with Relay and our partners to have conversations about our energy use habits and how to help protect the planet. Relay provides free, interactive activities focused on science and education to engage people of all ages in positive and fun ways.
Thanks to the attendees, sponsors, partners and volunteers for helping kick off the 12th year with a wonderful community day.
