Solar Installation Course

The Solar Installation Training Course teaches participants about the fundamentals of rooftop solar energy systems. The course will introduce you to the basics of electricity and solar energy, provide a hands-on opportunity to install solar panels on a demo roof, and provide training certifications. 

Our instructors provide a supportive learning environment and are committed to the success of participants from diverse backgrounds.

Who this Course is for

The Green Skills Academy is committed to supplying these courses to underserved and underrepresented communities, specifically Black, Indigenous, racialized communities and people of colour, newcomers, women and 2SLGBTQIA+. Priority will be given to individuals who are part of these groups. 

You must be: 

  • 18 years or older 
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have Refugee Status 

Why you should take part

  • You will receive certifications in: 
    • Standard First Aid & CPR
    • Working at Heights
    • Electrical Safety
    • Ladder Safety
  • You will receive protection and safety equipment, including work boots, hard hat, work gloves, high visibility vest and safety glasses
  • You will receive a Certificate of Completion in Solar Installation after finishing all course requirements

How it works

  • This course is free to take part in 
  • In-person course, please see active training courses for locations and dates 
  • The course is full-time. Taking place Monday to Friday approximately 9 am to 4 pm each day
  • Costs will be reimbursed for travel, accommodations and childcare if needed
